Our Mission:
To provide education, advocacy, and outstanding customer service to local energy users to facilitate the transition to renewable energy.
Our Background:
Mike Hulett began his passion for solar in 1978 as a technician with a small solar installation company. In 1982 he was offered employment with a major solar manufacturer which furthered his knowledge in the industry. After two years he decided to work for himself, opening a service company which provided warranty repairs for two major solar manufacturers. For a period of ten years his focus was in large scale commercial construction, working with an engineering contractor. In 2000, he and his wife Kelly Hulett created KLM General and Engineering Contractors, Inc. Since then has KLM installed over a hundred solar electric and solar hot water systems in Northern California. As part of their commitment to the environment they planted over 10,000 trees in the California Sierra Nevada mountains.
Rick Kehret got interested in solar and renewable energy technologies while attending UC Berkeley. He got a degree in engineering and worked for several years in the engineering, construction, and IT fields. A solar hobbyist for many years before working in the field, he is the proud owner of four solar energy systems at his home in Elk Grove (a small grid-tied PV system, a grid-tied with battery backup system, a solar domestic hot water system, and a dedicated solar electric pool pumping system.) He started his own solar consulting business in 2007. He is a major proponent of democracy in all forms, and of worker ownership in particular.
